MUSIC: If a Song Could Get Me You – Marit Larsen

One of the many quirks I have, and some of my friends can attest to this, is my weird taste in music (for a guy, I mean). Just how weird are my musical inclinations? For my third year high school research paper requirement I wrote about my favorite pop duo back then: Marit Larsen and Marion Raven, collectively known as M2M. I studied in Xavier, an all boy’s school, and most of my classmates were really bothered by the fact that I enjoyed listening to such girly music.

M2M

Eight years later (wow, it’s already been that long?) and I now find myself reminiscing about cheesy bubblegum pop music. However, instead of sharing a popular M2M song, which any Marit and Marion fan would feel nostalgic about, I’d like to share my favorite Marit Larsen music video. You see, after the awesome twosome parted ways, they pursued solo music careers. Marion stayed in America and released a rock album called Here I Am in 2006, followed by Set Me Free in 2007. She is currently working on her third album.

Marit Larsen

Meanwhile, Marit Larsen returned to Norway. She released her first solo album Under the Surface in 2006, followed by The Chase in 2008, and  Spark in 2011. The reason why she hasn’t made it big in America or in the Philippines is probably because all three albums were only released in Norway and nearby countries like Sweden and Germany.

I personally prefer Marit’s sweet voice over Marion’s powerful one. Marit’s voice is so sweet you could turn diabetic while listening to her sing. Seriously! If you want an instant dose of happiness or inspiration, listen (and watch) the official music video of If a Song Could Get Me You by Marit Larsen. This is from her first solo album.

MUSIC VIDEO: Brand New Day by Tim Myers Ft. Lindsey Ray

This music video has just brightened up my day!  The dogs and other animals featured in the video are sooo cute!

And it is a nice reminder because some days we tend to forget:  that every single morning that we wake up and breathe and live is such a wonderful blessing.

Here’s the bridge part of the song:

Simple things
It’s what life is made of
Happiness
Is not that hard to find
I’m alive
And I’ll go on living
In this simple life

All together now, let’s sing:  Oh oh oh oh!  This is a brand new day. . . .  ♫ ♪ ♫♫ ♪

MUSIC: Colbie Caillat – Brighter than the Sun

Bring out the sunshine this rainy Thursday!

Just because it’s raining, it doesn’t mean that you have to be gloomy. Happy music is always available to cheer you up and make you dance in the rain!

And here’s the acoustic version, which is equally great!

MUSIC VIDEO: 500 Days of Summer – You Make my Dreams

When was the last time you couldn’t help but dance and smile at every people you meet in the street?  I remember this part of the movie “500 Days of Summer” and I remember that feeling when you have finally got what you have been aspiring for and you couldn’t contain your happiness you want to rub it on others.  And in those moments, there has to be a great song to match the mood.   In the movie, it’s Hall & Oates’ “You Make My Dreams”

Music can make you feel good.  If you are feeling a little gloomy today because of the gloomy weather, the simplest therapy is to listen to songs that will make you stand up and walk with gait and smile at the world.

Remember that your happiness is your responsibility.  Sulk for a few days when you feel like it but don’t stay there for too long.  Hall & Oates is waiting for you.  Go ahead and play that song.  You deserve that happy song!

MUSIC VIDEO: The Show by Lenka, My Happy Song (and Video)

What is your happy song?  It is the song that you always listen to whenever you feel fantastic.  My happy song these days is The Show by Lenka.  Whenever I listen to it, I can’t help but smile and swing my head from side to side.

A few days ago, a friend of mine shared this music video to me.  The creator of the video is a teacher who asked her students to interpret Lenka’s song by making one drawing per one line of the song. The drawings are so adorable!  I look at the drawings and I say to myself that must be what it feels like to let go and just enjoy the show.  Oh, I love this video!
